Privacy policy

Last updated 14 August 2026

This is a template, not legal advice. It describes how the site is built, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it checked against your jurisdiction and your actual data processing before you rely on it — particularly the GDPR sections if you operate in the EU.

The short version

You can use the questionnaire, read every comparison and see a price estimate without giving us anything. We ask for contact details only when you request a fixed quote, and we use them to answer you.

What we collect

When you fill in the questionnaire

Your answers stay in your browser’s session storage so a refresh does not lose your progress. They are not sent to us unless you submit the quote form.

When you request a quote

We collect your name, work email, company name if you give one, and any notes you write. We also receive the questionnaire answers that produced the estimate, so the reply can be specific rather than generic.

Automatically

We use privacy-preserving analytics that do not set advertising cookies or build a profile of you across sites. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, user agent, requested path — for security and debugging.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal data.
  • We do not pass your details to the vendors we recommend. A tool appearing in your shortlist does not mean that vendor hears about you.
  • We do not add you to a mailing list because you requested a quote. Marketing email requires a separate, explicit opt-in.
  • We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Why we are allowed to hold it

For quote requests, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you initiated, and the steps necessary to enter into a contract at your request. For server logs, it is our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working.

How long we keep it

  • Quote requests: 24 months from your last contact with us.
  • Server logs: 30 days.
  • Questionnaire answers you never submitted: until you close the tab.

Who else sees it

Only the providers we need to run the service: our hosting provider, and the email provider we reply to you with. Each is bound by a data processing agreement and processes data only on our instructions.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it at all. Email us and we will do it within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your national data protection authority.

International transfers

If a provider processes data outside your region, that transfer relies on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

Changes

We will update the date at the top when this changes. If a change materially affects how we handle data you have already given us, we will tell the people affected directly rather than relying on you noticing.

Contact

Email us with anything on this page, including deletion requests. See also our terms of service.
